The Ford F-150

The small child got a Ford F-150 for Christmas. Father put us in it as well. Diesel was quite happy in the back. However, I have concerns about the small child driving us around and was not too happy. Thankfully, there is at least a foot of snow in the back yard, and so he cannot drive it there.  He took it out on the road, but Mother and Father would not let us ride out on the street, so we escaped and have a reprieve until the spring thaw. I will not have Samuel driving me around. If Diesel is silly enough to allow it, then good luck to him.

Christmas Comes Early to Colorado!

SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!! Lot's of snow and it is so deep, Diesel and I had to have the small child make us a path to get out. Diesel is the one with all the snow on his face since he falls and face plants all the time. He doesn't mind - he just keeps running and falling! I am the one with the bushy tail - Father will not let them trim it - says it is too beautiful. The small child said I look like peacock with the long tail. He wonders why I growl and bark at him.

The Bridges of Madison County

Mother and Father are upset that our days of traveling in the RV have come to a close for the season. I personally am glad to stay home in my house, lying by the fire, chasing deer from the comforts of my own garden, and not being driven all over the country.

Here we are at our last stop of the season - The Bridges of Madison County. Historic covered bridges in Madison County, Iowa that Diesel peed on...

Beach Fun!

Since it is going to snow again tonight, Momma showed us the pictures from last month at Lake Superior. WE had SO much fun running in the sand and covering our noses with it. Momma says don't worry - we are on leashes as always. Her and Father don't trust us and I do not understand why.

Caught...

We are not allowed on the back of the sofa - but you see, it is the best place to watch for bunnies and venison. Diesel thinks he won't get caught if he hides behind a pillow. Momma really doesn't like him up there in case he falls. I think I should be allowed, as I am the athletic one, and there is so much to see.

Fall Beard....

Diesel cannot sit still long enough for a picture, so it is always up to me. I am busy, I have a lot of hunting to do, so sitting for pictures all the time tests my patience. Then Mother reminds me that I AM the pretty one...

The Great Lakes

Thankfully, the weather is getting colder and our parents cannot keep driving us all around the country for hours on end. This time, they took us 4000 miles in total - away from the comforts of home for 10 days. This was in a campground in Wisconsin. It was in the National Forest and there was no one there except us! That meant Diesel and I did not have to be so quiet. We had fun on our morning walk with Samuel and ran and ran and ran...

Chama, New Mexico

Mother and Father took us to Chama, New Mexico so that Father and the small child could ride the Cumbres & Toltec steam engine. We had to stay in a more "RV" type campground, which our parents avoid at all costs. But, because Diesel, Momma, and I would be staying in the RV all day, we wanted electricity in case we got hot. This way, Father and Samuel could walk to the depot.

We had a great day with Momma, walking in the campground that was very pretty, sharing her lunch and even a nap! At night Momma and Papa snuggled us by the campfire. We could hear elk bugling and so Diesel starting complaining. There is always a squirt bottle near us when we camp - Momma and Papa just have to pick it up and we know to be quiet. Sometimes.

Father and Samuel loved the train and said anyone who likes trains must go. None of us were happy about posing for the last picture. Diesel has some coordination problems and tipped over for the picture.

Ooh La La

Her name is Raven. I love her long legs, her French accent, her poofy hair. Raven and her Mom came camping with us. I like Raven - I think she is beautiful! But Diesel does not like other dogs much. The first time he met Raven was on Christmas Day. Diesel had only be in our home for a week when Raven came to visit. Instead of making a new friend, Diesel went and lifted his leg on Raven - "making her my own" he said. Raven has never forgotten.

Raven was on the news and in the newspaper. A French movie star!  She had a human pacemaker put into her heart because it wasn't working right. Momma says I should move on, that I shouldn't get mixed up with a girl like that, wired all wrong. Momma says I can do better; that I should find a girl with less baggage... Sometimes Momma calls her Radon.

The door was open, so I went....

More trouble. Father was taking us out in the car as Momma had someone coming for pictures. Since Diesel cannot walk down stairs, Father picked him up to carry him to the car. The door was open, so off I went! Bunnies to chase! Owls to find! I could hear howling on the open space last night, what was that?? I was off like a rocket. Father felt my fur bush by his legs as I darted outside without my leash. I planned it carefully. I sat very quietly on the couch until he started to open the door with Diesel in his arms. He had barely opened the door - just enough space for little Jett! Off I went!

What fun I had, running down the street, going to the mailboxes, headed to the open space.... Father kept yelling, "Jett! Jett! Jett SIT!" This was no time to practice sitting - I had work to do. I would listen to Father later.

I got to the entrance to the open space when Father yelled again, and I thought I better stop. He picked me up and was not as proud of me as I thought he would be. He said the girlie Ivy that used to live here did that once. Momma says every Scottie she has had has done it ONCE except the blonde one and Diesel. They seem very controlling - keeping us fenced in the yard like that. True, it is ample size. But they have padlocks on the gates so no one can leave them open and let us run. They even have a gate on the front porch to keep us in! They talk of the open space as though it is dangerous. There is no freedom. And all those bunnies outside...

We are in SO much trouble....

We are in so much trouble, Momma won't even post our pictures. Bunny #4. We were just playing, but then Diesel had to bring the "pelt" inside - twice... I tried to tell Momma he just wanted her to make him some bunny slippers for Christmas. She was still not happy. She was even more disappointed when she went to let us out and found bunny in her bedroom. She said, "Jett - OUT and take it with you." I thought I better do what she say. Now her and Father are talking about what to do, as Momma says this is too traumatic for all. Plus, I was not feeling too well after eating it.  Father says if we had opposable thumbs we could light the BBQ. Momma did not find that funny. She says she is worried about us getting a Dzeeze.  She saw two bunnies frolicking in the yard tonight, so she let Diesel out alone first, as he is not very coordinated and slow, so she hoped he would warn the bunnies before I got there, as I am quicker than any bunny. I think the frolicking may mean more bunnies for me!

Diesel and the small child...

The noisy, small child says Diesel is HIS dog "because Jetty is a napper." I only nipped him once or twice (ok, maybe more) and he deserved it.... Anyway, I am glad he is more fond of Diesel - gives me some much needed peace...

I knew if I waited it out, Diesel would show his old ways. I have been promoted with Mother again, as Diesel is the one getting up at 0330 now. He also has been naughty, chewing and shredding and still thinks it is permissible to relieve himself indoors.

Mother was disappointed in us both, as we killed a snake - we have moved on from bunnies as the young ones have gotten bigger and smarter. We thought she would be proud we got the snake, but she was sad that we teamed up against it. It does not make sense to any of us, including Father, as she hates snakes. Diesel was found "pointing" at the snake and pawing at it with one paw.  Father is worried that we did that in case it was ever a rattly type....

Trying to get Brownie points...

Diesel has been promoted. Momma always said what a sweet, perfect Scottie I was. The other day I heard her telling Father what a good boy Diesel was becoming, that he was even behaving better than me!!! All I do is ask to go out at 0300 am. Then, I like to sit outside and enjoy the moonlight. I would come in, but I have to look for bunnies. When I do finally come in, I just need a belly rub to help me sleep. Momma is too tired to rub my belly for long, so then I go wake Diesel up so we can play. Then I get in trouble for frapping on the bed. Then I get sent off the bed. Momma says she hopes it is just a stage, or they may try and trade me in for a girlie!

The noisy child fell asleep on the sofa, so I decided to sit by him and look cute and protective. It worked. Father got Mother and they thought it was "so cute." I thought all was better until Momma found me with HER slipper in MY house at 0600 and she was woke up again...

Mesa Verde National Park

Diesel thought is was boring here, and as you can see, walked away. I liked all the smells and things to see. It had rained, so there were LOTS of new smells. We were not allowed in the little houses and it was too hot to be left alone, so Momma took us on walkies instead - we could see the ruins from the cliffs. Not to worry - we are on leashes in all these pictures. Momma likes to take them off in her "competer."

Diesel is an addict...

Mother and Father are quite worried. Diesel has started "huffing." He spends all his time inhaling the air from the vent in the RV when we drive. He will stand like this for great lengths of time inhaling. Notice the mess he has created on the window behind him... I am certain none of that is my squiggle art.

Hot Dogs and Sand!

We are off again. This time to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. First stop was Coney Island - a giant hotdog in the mountains near Bailey, Colorado. Then we were off to the Sand Dunes, where we stayed overnight. We went to the dunes the next day, but Father would not let us on the sand with a sand temperature of 145 degrees F. Father prefers us to the small child, as he did not hesitate to let him on the sand barefoot. He was protecting our pads. Mother was not happy, as she will sacrifice anything for a photograph, including our tender paws...

Summertime!

You can see by my ears that I was not too happy about sitting still for this picture. Diesel was wandering around and could not focus long enough to have his taken - besides, his coat is not as elaborate as mine. I got to romp and play after the picture and LOVE my camping trips now! We are going somewhere called The Great Sand Dunes next. Sounds messy to me. Diesel should have a ball.

And they say we are naughty?

I found this picture on Mother's computer. It seems as though the previous canine residents were not as well behaved as Mother and Father like to pretend. And this one, Hamish, was supposedly the best behaved Scottie ever! Hmmmmmm...

You see I am a little disgruntled. Mother came home and Father told her I had been badly behaved. That I would not come in and then I ran circles around the big tree while Father chased me. He said Diesel had been better behaved than me that day! The next day I was barking at the fence at 0500 am. It wasn't my fault. There were venison in the area. You see Angus, who lived here before would understand. He ran a security company in the home that worked 24/7. It is a lot of responsibility for a Scottie, and checking the perimeters is our job. That is all I was doing around the tree. At least I don't have goldfish on my record.

Diesel is ready to go home....

Mother and Father took us on another camping trip... It was OK except it was hot and there were too many bugs, so Mother was grumpy. As you can see in this picture, Diesel was prepared to go home after eating a pine cone and not feeling too well. This is him in the RV. What happened to Diesel's coat? WELL... I am always cautious with my coat, trying to maintain it's color and softness. Diesel does not pay any attention. He tries to get it dirty. That, paired with parents who are hopeless at grooming, meant Diesel got stripped down for the summer. Not to worry, I still have my lush coat and am developing some nice furnishings if I do say so myself. Perhaps our adoptive family should have been screened to make sure they knew how to brush a dog???? I cannot fault them completely, Diesel is a difficult dog to maintain.

Here is the view from our campsite at Pearl Lake near Steamboat Springs, Colorado
